Teaser Tuesday (10.06.09)

October 6, 2009

teasertuesdays31Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly event hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. It’s easy enough to play along, just follow the Teaser Tuesdays link for rules.

Today my teaser comes from a little book by Truman Capote called Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

She took off her dark glasses and squinted at me. It was as though her eyes were shattered prisms, the dots of blue and gray and green like broken bits of sparkle. (p. 67)

I love the description of her eyes. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a long time. Ho is it? thanks for stopping by.

I haven’t had time to really sit down with it yet, so I’m only a couple pages in. But Capote pulls you in so quickly and easily.

Great tease. Capote had such a way with words in both fiction and nonfiction.

Sounds a little on the painful side. But definitely descriptive. :-)

What? Really? This is from Capote? OMG, I have to read it. I’ve watched the movie often enough and have heard that this is his best work…and, on the list it goes!

Great description. Never read this one, though I have seen the movie several times. Maybe someday… Thanks for visiting my teaser!

Yes, you should definitely read it! It’s super short, only about 100 pages, so it won’t take up too much reading time.

  13. October 6, 2009 8:35 pm

    I like! I like!

  14. October 6, 2009 9:10 pm

Oh how cool. I had no idea this was a book. How are you liking it? I love the mention of blue and gray. It makes me think of the actual store. If only I could afford to go in there every now and then LOL.

I’ve only read a few pages so far, as I was leaving the library with it. I’m trying to finish Pride and Prejudice first so I can fully enjoy BaT. But I’ve gotta say, the little bit I read was really good!

What a great teaser! I love those descriptors. They are not ordinary words for eyes…”broken bits of sparkle.”

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever read this book, which surprises me! I have Truman Capote’s “In Cold Blood,” and have been planning to delve into it. But grim. “Breakfast at Tiffanys” would be more fun.
