Weekly Round Up (12.02.12)

December 2, 2012

These were my 5 most listened to tunes from the last week, according to last.fm:

1. Just Too Used to You by Tigertown (still can’t get enough of this one)
2. The Time To Sleep by Marble Sounds (discovered thanks to the lovely ladies at The Glitter Pox)
3. Anna Sun by Walk the Moon
4. What Makes it Harder by Tigertown
5. Hurricane Jane by Black Kids

It’s the last week before Christmas music start popping up on this list! I’ve been updating my Christmas playlists and am all ready for all the Christmas music all the time. What are some of your favourites? I’m always looking for more to add to my collection!

New on My Shelf (A combination of Library Loot, hosted by Claire at The Captive Reader and Marg at Reading Adventures, and Mailbox Monday, hosted in December by Suko @ Suko’s Notebook.)

Just one book from the library, this one for book club:

I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith

I’ve been meaning to read this pretty much since I started blogging. I’m so glad book club has finally forced me to get to it!

“It’s Monday What Are You Reading” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila that lets you share books you’ve read over the past week and books you have coming up.

Finished:
Jane Austen Made Me Do It by Laurel Ann Nattress
Everything Beautiful Began After by Simon Van Booy (re-read, and was just as wonderful the second time)

Reading Plan: December 2012

Currently Reading:
I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith

DNF:
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson (Officially adding this to the Did Not Finish pile. I couldn’t get into when I first tried to start it, which was nearly 2 months ago. And I haven’t been able to get myself to touch it since. I think it’s time to give it up as a lost cause.)

Up Next: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

ChristmasReadingSpotWhat are you reading and listening to? Did any new books find their way into your possession?

As for me, I have my Christmastime reading spot all set up and am ready to curl up with my book and a giant mug of hot chocolate.

I always debate whether to choose not to finish a book, especially if I’m reviewing it as part of a tour. I’m currently reading a novel that I find boring and really don’t feel like reading, but it’s an indie author…*sigh* Anyhow, enjoy your reading week!

I enjoyed Scarlet and hope you do as well. I like your Christmas reading spot.

I didn’t finish Gilead either…it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I LOVE your reading spot, lovely. Hot chocolate sounds divine too :)

    Have a great week!

I’ve heard a lot of good things about I Capture the Castle so it should be a good one.

  11. December 3, 2012 6:34 am

Oh my, 3 more books I haven’t been aware of. Guess I’ll leave Gilead off my TBR list, but add the others. I am trying to finish The Secret Keeper for a book group I belong to. It’s good, but slow going with all the holiday prep that needs to be done. Plus I think I got myself in over my head with 3 book club read and 3 extra challenges. I always have been one to “overdo”,

Funny. I liked Gilead much better than her novel Housekeeping, which was critically acclaimed. I’ve decided that life is too short to read books we don’t like. Even if it’s for review, if I don’t like it, I don’t finish it. I’m honest but fair in my review and if it’s really bad, I’ll often just do a preview with an about the book and an about the author!
