Weekly Round Up (07.03.11)

July 3, 2011

These were my 5 most listened to tunes from the last week:

1. Poor Eliza by Chris Bathgate
2. The Bitter Strings by The Jealous Sound (I overheard a coworker listening to this band early in the week and it reminded me just how much I loved their EP. I love rediscovering old favourites!)
3. Longing To Belong by Eddie Vedder (I’m kind of surprised to see this on the list because I didn’t think I listened to it that much last week. I guess I did!)
4. Red Heart by Hey Rosetta!
5. Beautiful Trash (feat. Megan Washington) by Lanu

I picked up my weekly iTunes download card from Starbucks last week, and when I tried to redeem it iTunes told me that promoter hadn’t started yet. So, sadly I have no new tracks to share today. I just hope I don’t forget to try to redeem it this coming week! If I don’t redeem them right away, I have a bad habit of leaving those cards in my wallet until long after they’ve expired.

“It’s Monday What Are You Reading” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila that lets you share books you’ve read over the past week and books you have coming up.

Finished: Ruffles on my Longjohns by Isabel Edwards

Giveaway: alita.reads. turns two (Closes Thursday, July 7)
Happy Canada Day!
Soundtrack Saturday – Wedding Season by Katie Fforde

Currently Reading:
Wedding Season by Katie Fforde

Up Next: I’m thinking maybe Faro’s Daughter by Georgette Heyer. I just co-hosted a high tea event and I’m in the m0od for something all fancy and whatnot.

What are you reading and listening to? Did any new books find their way into your possession?

Hmm. I have difficulty with Heyer.

Here is my Monday Morning Update

  2. July 3, 2011 9:42 pm

I haven’t read anything by Georgette Heyer yet – I have always assumed that her books are all mushy romances.

Wedding Season by Katie Fforde sounds like a fun read. Happy Reading!

I haven’t read anything by her either, so it could very well be a mushy romance. I’ll keep you posted ;)

  3. July 3, 2011 10:13 pm

I have a free download of a Heyer book but haven’t read any yet. Enjoy.

  4. July 4, 2011 4:52 am

I still haven’t read anything by Heyer…time to do it? Ruffles on my Longjohns sounds funny! Enjoy your week!

    • July 6, 2011 1:51 pm

Yes, time to do it! Well, this is my first Heyer, so I can’t say for sure that you should read her, but other people seem to like her stuff :)

  5. July 4, 2011 5:22 am

Love Georgette Heyer! Must go back to her soon. I’m reading The Lantern by Deborah Lawrence. It is really good!

    Here’s my post:

I had never even heard of Heyer until Courtney from Stiletto Storytime talked about her – so now I’m so excited to read something by her!

    Here is my Monday!

    • July 6, 2011 1:48 pm

I had been wanting to read Heyer for a while, but figuring out where to start was a bit overwhelming. I found this one at a library sale and figured it was as good a place to start as any.

  7. July 4, 2011 12:06 pm

I haven’t read Heyer yet either but can totally picture the book & tea together LOL

    • July 6, 2011 1:41 pm

This will be my first Heyer but it does seem like the book would go well with fanciness. I may have to pull out one of my fine china tea cups while I read it :)

  8. July 4, 2011 2:35 pm

My reading list consists of a lot of picture books read with my children, as well as the manga I’ve been reading with my oldest. Come see what I read.

  9. July 4, 2011 3:06 pm

I would very much like to attend a High Tea. Georgette Heyer is an excellent reading choice. Have a wonderful week and happy reading.
    My Monday:

    • July 6, 2011 1:38 pm

This was my second high tea and I think I’m hooked! Although this was the first one I was involved in planning.

  10. July 5, 2011 10:36 pm

Fancy tea and Georgette Heyer~ yay! I’m guessing that’s one of her historical fictions and not a mystery?

    • July 6, 2011 1:36 pm

I believe it’s one of her historical fictions/romances. But I do know it will be my very first Heyer!

  11. July 6, 2011 12:03 pm

I really enjoyed Wedding Season. I read it when I was wedding planning (because reading novels about wedding is so much more enjoyable than actually planning!) I’ve adored Fforde’s novels for years and need to catch up on the last few.

    • July 6, 2011 1:35 pm

That’s why I decided to read it too. Well, I’m not planning my own wedding, but helping a friend plan hers next month. And my brother-in-law is getting married next week. So, in between showers and planning meetings, I was definitely in the mood for Wedding Season!
