Giveaway: alita.reads. turns two!

June 30, 2011

As of today, alita.reads. is two whole years old! If I had fireworks, they would be going off right now.

I had an amazing first year, but I feel that I hit by blogging rhythm during my second year. Well, at least until recently.

My reading and blogging have been in a bit of a slump these past few months, which makes me even more grateful to the people who have continued to stop by and comment on the rare post that appears. I was hesitant to do a birthday post because of my limited blog activity, but the fact that there are still people reading makes me want to do something special for you. So, let’s have a little party, shall we?

Just like last year, it wouldn’t be a party without music or presents. What kind of music you ask? We’ll get to that in a sec. Oh, you want to know what the presents are? One lucky winner will receive a book that I am desperately looking forward to reading. The choices are:
*A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I’ve made no secret of my love for the Chaos Walking Trilogy, but still need to get my hands on his latest release, which I’ve heard is pretty darn amazing.
*The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. The title for this book was just announced on Tuesday and oh my am I excited for it. It won’t be released until Spring 2012, so I’ll pre-order a copy if the winner should choose this one and it will be sent when the book is released. Also? John Green is going to sign every pre-ordered copy. Awesome, right?
*Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. This is a new addition to my to-read list, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to read it SO BAD!
*None of these titles sound like they’re up your alley? Your final option is a book of your choice from the Book Depository for $15 or less.

Now the music. Last year we did dance tunes, but today the sun is shining and I’m in the mood for some summertime songs.

TO ENTER: Fill out the FORM. CLOSED!

Hey Alita, Two year old? Only? Congrats on that, but I feel like your blog has been around longer. I read all of your posts via email, but I am rather lame with my commenting. Sorry.
Like you, lately, I have been having a difficult time writing my posts. I am trying out a new schedule for me, and while I may not post regularly, I am going to work on a post every morning. It may take me several days to complete one post due to time limitations but at least it will get there. For me, I find it hard to let go of posting frequently and being okay with taking several days to finish one post, but life is happening and I must attend to it. :)
I hope you never stop posting to your blog so in the meantime, during your slump, be okay with infrequent posts. Your readers will still be around. :)

I love your music lists every Monday so it is fantastic that you incorporated a request for summertime music on this list.

    Have a fun summer!

Aw, thanks! I feel like I’ve been blogging for longer than two years, too. I have trouble remember what pre-blogging life (or reading!) was like. But sometimes I still feel like the new kid on the block.

Good luck with getting back to posting regularly. I think I have about 5 posts on the go right now that I just can’t seem to finish.

Congrats, Alita! Time goes by fast, doesn’t it?

My favorite summertime song *right now* is probably Houdini by Foster the People. But it could change. :)
