Soundtrack Saturday – Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes

January 8, 2011

Soundtrack Saturdays an opportunity to share a song I think would fit on the soundtrack for the book I’m currently reading.

Feel free to join in! Either leave your soundtrack pick or the link to your soundtrack post in the comments.

From the author’s website:
Meet Rachel Walsh. She has a pair of size 8 feet and such a fondness for recreational drugs that her family has forked out the cash for a spell in Cloisters – Dublin’s answer to the Betty Ford Clinic. She’s only agreed to her incarceration because she’s heard that rehab is wall-to-wall jacuzzis, gymnasiums and rock stars going tepid turkey – and it’s about time she had a holiday.
But what Rachel doesn’t count on are the toe-curling embarrassments heaped on her by family and group therapy, the dearth of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll – and missing Luke, her ex. What kind of a new start in life is this?

Soundtrack Song:
In Rachel’s Holiday Rachel dates Luke who she had noticed around town for a while, but not really in a good way. Always hanging out with this buddies, they all wore tight pants, lots of denim, some leather, and all had “longish, curlyish hair”. They called each other ‘man’ and the girls hanging around them ‘babe’. Rachel and her friend Bridget, they sarcastically called the group The Real Men. The description of these guys immediately made me think of Bon Jovi, and so this song has been in my head ever since. Here’s “You Give Love A Bad Name” for your enjoyment. Happy Saturday :)

What song would you add to the soundtrack for this book or the one you’re currently reading?
