Monday Round Up (06.14.10)

June 13, 2010

“It’s Monday What Are You Reading” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila that lets you share books you’ve read over the past week and books you have coming up.

Finished: Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. I finished it, I finally finished it! Review still to come – I think I need to let my thoughts on it percolate a bit before I commit anything to a post.

Started: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling. Wow, has it been a long time since I’ve read this book! I am glad to be back in Harry’s world.

Up next: A new book off my TBR shelf will be up next, and I’ll be letting random.org pick exactly which one when I’ve finished Chamber of Secrets.

And again, I’m happy to report that I acquired no new books over the last week, so no Library Loot or Mailbox Monday entries for me this week.

What are you reading? Did any new books find their way into your possession?

OMG, I’m so jealous that you finished Anna Karenina! Way to bust out the reading! Seriously, I have been reading it for more than a year at this point, lol.

I still need to start the Harry Potters, I’ve never read them but really intend to read them this year.

    My week:

Okay, now I don’t feel so bad about taking over a month to finish it – thanks ;)

And yes, you definitely need to read the Harry Potter books!

Congradulations on finishing Anna Karenina. I hope you enjoyed it.

I can’t wait to hear what you think about AK, I have tried to read it before, it is one I intend to read through. I find Russian Lit hardest to get through.

Anna Karenina is one of my all-time favorites! I haven’t read it in several years, though. I should pull it back out…

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. In fact, at a wedding this weekend, I told my husband that the best man reminded me of Ron. Perhaps I need to back away from Hogwarts for awhile ;)

I’ve never heard of anyone letting random.org pick the next read. That’s pretty cool. Hope it picks a good one. :)

Kudos to you for reading Anna Karenina. I never have! And I bet Harry Potter must be such a nice change for your brain. :) Enjoy!

Around one year ago I read the book “into the wild” by Krakauer, this is how I became curios about Tolstoy and decided to read “War and Peace” (wonderful). Now I just finished “The Elegance of the Hedgehog” by Muriel Barbery and it kept referencing Anna Karenina…looking forward to your review

The Harry Potter books always make good re-reads and every new read is still exciting! Enjoy reading the Chamber of Secrets! And I would love to read Anna Karenina someday. Need to read more classics. :)

You have an interesting way of picking up your next book to read! Haha! Good one. :)

I needed something to take along to the hairdressers on Saturday (it was going to be a long session) and found Mohsin Hamid’s “The Reluctant Fundamentalist” gathering dust on the TBR shelf. I had brought it home from Waterstones, one of my favourite bookstore finds in Oxford, last year and totally forgot about it! I’m not sure why I bought it, perhaps it was because it was on the 3 for 2 table. I’m about 1/3 of the through and not sure how I’m being pulled into a one-sided conversation.

Hello — I popped over to tell you that I’ve added you to my first ever Blog Hop/ Bodacious Bloggers post. Yours is one of the first blogs I started reading after joining “It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?”
