Tour Countdown #4: Lucy Schwartz

3 weeks ’till Lilith time!

A while back I made a little announcement about my summer plans. In anticipation of the rapidly approaching tour, I’m going to countdown some of the artists I’m looking forward to seeing. In no particular order. Now, there’s a fairly good chance I won’t actually have time to watch any of them, but hopefully I’ll be able to catch strains of their music as I run like mad through each venue :)

I first heard of Lucy Schwartz through my work, but didn’t think much of it and took my sweet time getting around to listening to any of her music. However, when I finally came across “Gone Away” I was hooked and listened to it endlessly. What gets me is how young she is and what pretty, thoughtful songs she writes. A number of Lucy’s songs, including “Gone Away,” have popped up on a few TV and Movie soundtracks, including Post Grad, Adam, Grey’s Anantomy, and Private Practice.

About two months ago she came out with a video for her new single, “Gravity” and it’s become my new favourite Lucy Schwartz song.

Lucy’s most recent release is a collaboration she did with singer/songwriter Landon Pigg. Together they wrote “Darling I Do” for the new Shrek movie. The song itself is adorable, the video for it even more so.

[FYI Landon Pigg is another artists you need to know. I was able to see him play at the Doug Fir Lounge in Portland recently. And sigh.]

And because I’m in a music-sharing-frenzy today, here’s a link to Landon Pigg performing “Darling I Do” at that show in Portland: Landon Pigg – Darling I Do

Thank you for sharing! I hadn’t heard of her before, and Gravity is lovely – song and video!
