teasertuesdays31Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly event hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. It’s easy enough to play along, just follow the Teaser Tuesdays link for rules.

I’ve got not one, but two teasers for you today! One from a book I just finished, one from a book I’m still slogging through, and both from books I’ve already teased you with! Let the fun begin!

Watership Down by Richard Adams:

All was still, save for the grasshoppers and the falling finch song of the yellowhammer on the thorn. Hazel looked steadily for a long time, listening with raised ears and wrinkling his nose in the unmoving air. (p. 237)

According to Jane by Marilyn Brant

Jane and I chitchatted silently about the differing musical styles of our eras (Beethoven versus the Beastie Boys – who proved more rebellious? Discuss…) as I ordered a cappuccino and wandered over to the condiments counter. I was deeply involved in the delicate process of flavoring my drink with cinnamon when I heard a voice from the past. (p. 68)

What are you teasing us with today?

Two lovely teasers. I read Watership down a few years ago and I thought it was wonderful. Your second book I’ve not come across, but I am definitely intrigued now.

They are both tempting teasers and so different from one another. “According to Jane” sounds like one I should read.

Would you believe I have NEVER read “Watership Down”? Really must do that one of these days. I loved the teaser from that one, you can really feel the peacefullness of the forest.

And the second book sounds hilarious! I’ll have to check them both out.
