Soundtrack Saturdays – The Hunger Games

Soundtrack Saturdays is a little thing where I share a song with you that I think would fit on the soundtrack for the book I’m currently reading. Feel free to join in!

Current Read: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

One Sentence Summary: 17-year old Katniss steps up to fight to the death in the Hunger Games.

Soundtrack Song: “Cold War Transmissions” by Anberlin, from the album Blueprints for the Blackmarket.

Why I chose this song: I’m just at the very beginning of the book, where there are lots of goodbyes and lots of fear. The feel of this song and these lyrics fit well with what I’ve read so far:

Side by side we face each other,
Standing here along, together.

Different sides we take our stance,
This could be our last goodbye, forever.

What song would you add to either The Hunger Games or the book you’re currently reading?

Barrel of the Gun by Depeche Mode comes to mind.

Thanks Juju! Yeah, Barrel of the Gun would definitely work! I’m sure that standing in the launch area of the hunger games arena would feel quite similar to staring down the barrel of a gun.

Breakdown by Jack Johnson. I think that would be an excellent song to play while she’s on the train on her way to the capitol.
