Book #21 – My Sister’s Keeper

I just finished reading Julie & Julia by Julie Powell, which inspired me to blog about one of my hobbies – reading. Okay, so actually my husband came up with the idea after I told him about Julie & Julia. He’s pretty smart.

I used to read a lot when I was younger, and then about a year ago I started up again with earnest. I even use a spreadsheet to keep track of how many books I’ve read, how long it took me to read each one, and how many pages I’ve read to date. Right now I’m at 20 books and 8,240 pages this year. That may not seem like a lot to some, but considering the most I had read in previous years was about 600 pages/year (ie. years that saw a new Harry Potter book come out), that number is pretty darn amazing to me.

So, instead of starting my count all over again for this year, I’m going to keep going with my current list.

Which brings me to book #21 – My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I borrowed this from my Oma yesterday (with strict instructions to pass it along to my other Grandmother once I’m done). Surprisingly I haven’t heard a lot about this book, just little comments here and there. The idea sounds so interesting and crazy – that parents would decide to have a second child who’s whole purpose in life is to be an organ farm to keep the first child alive. What I have heard about the book is that it’s a good-er – and that it has a surprise ending. OOOH! ;) We will see, we will see…
