Soundtrack Saturday – An American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin
Soundtrack Saturdays an opportunity to share a song I think would fit on the soundtrack for the book I’m currently reading.
Feel free to join in! Either leave your soundtrack pick or the link to your soundtrack post in the comments.
From the publisher’s website:
Be careful what you wish for. Traveling abroad with her mother at the turn of the twentieth century to seek a titled husband, beautiful, vivacious Cora Cash, whose family mansion in Newport dwarfs the Vanderbilts’, suddenly finds herself Duchess of Wareham, married to Ivo, the most eligible bachelor in England. Nothing is quite as it seems, however: Ivo is withdrawn and secretive, and the English social scene is full of traps and betrayals. Money, Cora soon learns, cannot buy everything, as she must decide what is truly worth the price in her life and her marriage.
Soundtrack Song: “Don’t Worry, We’ll Be Watching You” by Gotye
Cora is used to being watched. Growing up in the elite social circles of New York and Newport, she knew not only how to handle the attention but how to thrive in it. However, the attention she’s now getting in London society as a new Duchess is a bit different. Here she knows that everyone is watching and waiting for her to fail and for the first time she’s afraid she’ll do just that.
Hey
Lost your way?
Don’t worry
Just do as we say
And we won’t hurt you

Interesting. For some reason it reminds me of old Nine Inch Nails.
I does sound a bit like NIN, doesn’t it? Which is a bit odd as I don’t like NIN… but the rest of the Gotye album is completely different.
