Monday Round Up (04.19.10)
“What are you reading on Mondays” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila that lets you share books you’ve read over the past week and books you have coming up.
Finished:
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (review to come)
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green (review to come)
Started: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
Up next: I’ve been receiving books much faster than I’ve been reading them, so other than a couple books already en route to me, I’ve put myself on a book-acquisition ban. Right now I have 40 books sitting on my shelf, all of which I really want to read. But how am I supposed to pick just one out of forty? Such a tough decision! Starting this week, I’ve decided to let random.org make that choice for me. We’ll see how long this lasts.
So. Let’s pick the first random book. And the winner is…. #18 – The Secret Shopper’s Revenge by Kate Harrison!
Library Loot is hosted by Eva at A Striped Armchair and Marg at Reading Adventures.
I’m trying to keep myself away from the public library at the moment, but I borrowed these from the private library known as My Mom’s Bookshelf:
The Brightest Star In The Sky by Marian Keyes [I love Marian Keyes, but I face her latest with mixed feelings, even before opening the first page. If you've read it, let me know what you thought of it!]
Digging To America by Anne Tyler
Mailbox Monday is a weekly event hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page.
won: The Heretic’s Daughter by Kathleen Kent (won from Kristi)
My birthday was just over a week ago, and I got a couple lovely bookish gifts that I shared last week, but I also got … gift cards! With which I bought the following:
The Neverending Story by Michael Ende
The Princess Bride by William Goldman
The Last To Know by Melissa Hill [After reading Before I Forget, I knew I had to read more and more and more books by Melissa Hill]
Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Very Valentine by Adriana Trigiani
What are you reading? Did any new books find their way into your possession?

Love Collins’ book and can’t wait for Mockingjay to be release. Also loved the series by Pfeffer. Hope you do too. Have a great week.
Good books! I liked Catching Fire (though not quite as much as I liked The Hunger Games). I also liked the Uglies series.
I have to admit that I have never read a book by John Green. I love his vlogs and even showed the one titled I Am Not a Pornographer to a Media Lit class. I have no excuse because all of them are in my HS Media Center.
Enjoy your reading this week!
Nice! Hope you have a great reading week – here is mine for this week! http://ruthiesbookreviews.blogspot.com/2010/04/its-monday-what-are-you-reading_19.html
Looks like you have a lot of great reading ahead of you. I love Trigiani’s books. Enjoy!
Fun! I loved Catching Fire! And An Abundance of Katherines was so funny! Looking forward to reading your reviews. :)
My Monday post is at The Eager Readers
Very Valentine is so good – the next book in the series, Brava, Valentine is even better. Enjoy!
Aww great books! Is that The Neverending Story like the movie? How fun. My mailbox is at The Crowded Leaf.
It’s fun to spend gift cards! I have yet to see a bad review for the Trigiani books. I really need to try one. Enjoy all your new books!
You have some really good books on your stacks. Hope you enjoy them.
I love The Nverending Story both the book and the movie. The same goes for The Princess Bride. Happy reading.

I really liked The Princess Bride and The Neverending Story (very different from the movie, though!). I hope you enjoy your new books! Also, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Katherines.
I can’t wait to read your thoughts on Catching Fire! I absolutely loved it, along with everyone else out there! And so many other good books…Pfeffer, The Princess Bride, Uglies…wow! You have some great reading ahead of you! Have a fabulous reading week!
I loved Catching Fire! I hope you did too! And I love the idea of using random.org to choose your next book. I may have to try that as my pile is getting pretty high too!
