Soundtrack Saturday – Uglies
Current Read: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
One Sentence Summary: It’s sometime in the future and Tally is only months away from being turned into a Pretty and moving to New Pretty Town.
Soundtrack Song: I couldn’t pick just one today, so I’ve got two songs – “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps & “When They Really Get to Know You They Will Run” by Pedro The Lion.
Why I chose song #1: What can I say, when I think of party music, disco comes to mind. Although New Pretty Town exists hundreds of years in the future, I have to believe they’re listening to music like this at their all-night rooftop parties.
One hundred stories high
People gettin’ loose y’all
Gettin’ down on the roof, do you hear?
Why I chose song #2: On the other hand there are the rebels, the ones who don’t want to become Pretty. Pedro The Lion’s tongue-in-cheek song about beauty practices seems like one they would like. Besides lyrics that call out the superficiality of outer beauty, the stripped-down music is miles away from the flashiness and glitz of New Pretty Town.
Put on whatever makes you attractive
If it’s not you, then do it for the sake of fashion
Your friends like a certain you
That’s who you’ve got to be
What song would you add to the soundtrack for this book or the one you’re currently reading?

Some good choices, I think–although I can’t really say for sure because I haven’t read the book! But I do really like that Pedro the Lion song.
Fun songs! I think they fit well.
This is such a fun post!!! :) Good choices!!!
