Soundtrack Saturday – The Thirteenth Tale
Current Read: The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
Once Sentence Summary: Novice biographer Margaret Lea is commissioned by the ever-mysterious author Vida Winter to write her true life story.
Soundtrack Song: Chopin’s Nocturne E Minor, Op. 72, #1, performed by Sviatoslav Richter
Why I chose this song: Margaret’s trip to Miss Winter’s house, the journey across the Moors, reminded me of Mary Lennox’s journey at the beginning of the 1987 film adaptation of The Secret Garden. This song brings to life the trepidation and mysteriousness of both those journeys.
What song would you add to the soundtrack for The Thirteenth Tale or the book you’re currently reading?

Good choice! I just finished The Thirteenth Tale and really enjoyed it.
Glad to hear you liked it! I’m really enjoying it so far.
OH! Goosebumps! And it totally reminds me of The Secret Garden too, but isn’t that because it was in the movie? hmmm. maybe it’s just because I’ve heard this piece of music many many times over. Love it.
Yes, it was in the movie :)
